Group Tests/Quizzes:

Group tests and quizzes are graded on a correct/incorrect basis. This means if the answer is correct, credit is given. No partial credit is given. An extra 10% will be added to a group test if all the answers are correct on the first try. Groups will be allowed to correct any incorrect problems only once if time remains in the class period. All quizzes and group tests may be retaken after school or during lunch, but prior arrangements must be made.

Class work:

You are expected to take notes for each objective from the Accelerated Math library and each lesson in the text book. Assignments are graded based on effort. Any textbook work not finished in class is expected to be completed at home that evening. If you try every problem and show your work , you will receive full credit. If you do not know how to work a problem, write the problem out on your paper before class the next day. Leave room for your work. This is your responsibility. Do not come to class expecting me to do your homework for you. We will be moving very fast in order to cover all the standards before spring test time. Students who fail to keep up with the class work will be assigned mandatory after-school tutoring. Schedule changes may not be possible.

Homework (no calculators except to check answers):

Your primary homework assignment is a diagnostic test, practice, or exercise from the California Algebra Accelerated Math library. Homework is to work 10 problems per class meeting. For example, first quarter ends on October 20 th after 44 days from the start of the school year; therefore, students will be expected to have completed 440 problems by the first day of the second quarter. Students who master objectives through diagnostic testing will be moved faster through the Accelerated math objectives. There are 184 objectives aligned with the California State Standards in the algebra library.

The Homework Help number (Mrs. Gibbs' home) is 375-2142 evenings and weekends. If there is no answer, please leave a message with the section and problem number and I will try to discuss it the next class session.

Show your work! Even if you work a problem incorrectly, your work is still valuable to me. I need to understand how you think in order to understand how to teach you.
