INVOLVEMENT

At James Monroe Middle School we need, expect and appreciate the involvement of our parents.   The staff is working diligently to improve communication so parents will know ways to be involved with their student's education.   The school publishes a monthly newsletter that is mailed home.   You can also visit our school website at http://monroe.ssusd.org .

PTSO

James Monroe Middle School is proud to have an active and effective Parent-Teacher-Student Organization (PTSO).   At the middle school level both parents and students are eligible to join the PTSO.   Membership information is sent home the first day of school.   Membership applications are also available in the office throughout the year.   Be sure to join.   Your membership helps this organization support James Monroe in many ways.

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL

The James Monroe School Site Council is composed of parents, teachers, students, and administrators.   The Council meets five or six times each year to discuss curriculum priorities and other policies and procedures related to James Monroe programs.   The School Site Council approves and monitors the School Improvement budget and also prioritizes budget expenditures for any additional funds that the school receives from the state.   Each school year, during the spring semester, parents are elected to serve on this council.   If you are interested in becoming a member of the School Site council, please look for election information in the monthly newsletters.

SCHOOL VISITATIONS

Parents are invited and encouraged to visit their child's classroom to observe how it functions during the school day.   The parent visitation should be scheduled with the office to coordinate with the classroom program.   A one-day notification is suggested.   All visitors must sign-in in the office and pick up an identification badge upon entering the school.   No visiting students are allowed in school during the school day.
