STUDENT ACTIVITIES

All students are invited to participate in the various clubs and activities offered at Monroe .   There are many opportunities to be involved and active in student government and club programs.   Students are encouraged to support their grade in the noontime activities, dress-up days, magazine sale, PTSO membership drive, and community help projects.   The leadership class awards Spirit points and winning grades receive a special reward at the end of each semester!

CLUBS/ACTIVITIES

Monroe staff members sponsor various clubs based on student interest and staff expertise.   The following clubs and activities may be offered at Monroe this year:

Basketball Dances Volleyball
Students of the Month Chess Student Recognition
Art CJSF Video/Computer
CROSS Spirit Days  

 

SCHOOL DANCES

Only James Monroe students may attend the dances.   Guests are not allowed.   Five dances will be held after school during the year.   Dances are chaperoned by Monroe staff members and PTSO parents.   All parents are invited to attend any of the school dances.   Student must stay in the dance once they are admitted.   All students must have a school issued permission slip, signed by a parent/guardian, in order to attend the dance.

 

ASSEMBLIES

Middle school student must behave courteously at school assemblies.   Students should give full attention to the performers on stage and show appreciation only through clapping hands.   Whistling, shouting, and foot stomping are not appropriate.   Visitors often form a lasting impression of our school and community by our behavior at assemblies.

 

SPORTSMANSHIP

All students are expected to behave in a mature way at extra curricular events.   Students participating in or attending school-sponsored activities are subject to rules and consequences of James Monroe Middle School .

 

TELEPHONE

The office telephone is not to be used by students except in a case of emergency or illness.   A telephone is available for 50¢ .   This is a fundraiser for the sixth grade end of the year activity.

 

LOST & FOUND

Misplaced personal articles are placed in the Lost and Found in the cafeteria.   Unclaimed items are donated to charity at the end of each quarter.   Please remind your child to check the Lost and Found at regular intervals if an item is missing.
