STAR testing is just around the corner.   The seventh graders will be taking their writing exam on March 2, 2010.   The rest of the STAR testing will be administered in April.   We will be informing you of the exact dates in a later issue of Tiger Talk.   Make-ups will be the following day.   Parents it is very important that your child be in attendance on those days.   Please do not schedule appointments off campus on those days if you can possibly avoid it.

 

English teachers will be working with students to help them improve their writing skills.   As parents you can help by reinforcing those skills by making sure they are following the guidelines when working on their writing assignments at home.   You can also help your child improve their performance on the STAR testing and in the classroom by making sure they are getting sufficient rest and nutrition.   Encourage them to do their best on the STAR test, but not to worry about it so much that they are so stressed that they can not think clearly.   Some stress relieving exercises are slow deep breathing, muscle relaxation, and positive imagery (imagining a relaxing scene, for example, the beach or the woods).
